NR: You shot a video last night for "The Word Best Friends Becomes Redefined." How did the shoot go?
Derrick: It was awesome. It was a long day. We drove from San Jose to Irvine that night which was 6 or 7 am but the show didn't end until around 11pm and we had to be there until 4am. We had to be at the shoot by 7am. We played the song 3 times during set yesterday. We cut some song out of the set for the video shoot. It was fun. We were really excited to do it.
NR: Is there any date for the video yet?
Derrick: No not yet. It was more of a fun thing to do before we go back to the studio. We are trying to get something before Christmas.
NR: Why did you decided to re-release "All’s Well That Ends Well" again with a DVD?
Derrick: It's just to get our CD's back in store when we went back out on the road. We had some distribution problems and our CD's were running out in stores. That's why we did that. After the show we are going back home to record some new music. I've been really excited to get back in the studio and write some new music.
NR: You will be on the Taste of Chaos Tour 2007. How did you guys get a place on the tour?
Derrick: I have no idea. You kind of tell our management that we would like a slot on the tour and then they see if they think that you will fit the bill. Tours get set up by other people. Sometimes bands get to set up the tour but most of the time it's by other people. You never really know. So we put something in and they offered us a spot and we took it.
NR: Kevin Lyman was really praising you guys.
Derrick: Ya he is a cool man. He's been treating us really well.
NR: Some press outlets have labeled this tour the "Drama" tour mostly because of From First To Last. Did you guys experience that?
Derrick: I don't even know the situation with it. I can see it being called that but I'm not any part of it. I'm just here to play. I'm here to play and have fun and enjoy our time on stage. We don't try to involve ourselves in that stuff.
NR: So basically everything went good for you guys on the tour.
Derrick: It was an awesome tour. I had a great time. The shows were amazing the venues were great. I had an amazing time.
NR: Most bands get categorized like hard-core, emo or things like that. A lot of press outlets are having problems labeling you guys. How do you feel about that?
Derrick: We write what we like. We like an array of different music and styles. We don't do it to be different. That's just impossible. If you try to write to be different you are going to be the same in some way. Where each of us grew up at we have different influences. In the Michigan area it is a big Motown influence and a lot of other kinds of music in that town. Then Jason and I are from Texas and we have our own music scene there.
NR: How did you come up with the band name?
Derrick: It's from "Killer Klowns From Outer Space" the movie. There is a production team that are brothers called the Chiodos Brothers. They are an Italian group of dudes that like to do animation and figurines and model type things for movies.
NR: So that's the meaning of the name?
Derrick: It's just a name. Music is not really reflected in a name. It's cool because no one knows how to say it.
NR: You guys had Paul Romano do that artwork for the album. He had done Mastadon's artwork. How did that come about?
Derrick: Our singer called him and said he loved his artwork. He actually has one of his pieces tattooed on him. He thought that was awesome and after talking to him he agreed. That's how it came about.
