Radiohead - In Rainbows
Radiohead - In Rainbows

A lot of media outlets only focused on the way the record was put out (via the Internet). Let's be real, about ninety percent of illegal down loaders now have Radiohead 's "In Rainbows" on their MP3 play list, which is both cool and sad at the same time. A lot of people downloaded this record for the mere fact of having it. The music aspect of the record is amazing. Then I look up at the fine art that is posted in this coffee shop. I think Tom Yorke is a pure genius on how he can make every middle class person that listen‘s to Radiohead feel intelligent. The attention this record has received is well deserved even if it hasn't been anything to do with the music. "In Rainbows" made history with the unique way it was released and with the artistic talent in the music. Unlike a lot of people, I actually have a physical copy and it is more beautiful to look at then some MP3 files on my computer! ( RadioHead.com )

Rambo [Single Disc Edition]

Rambo [Single Disc Edition]
The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by missionaries to protect them during a humanitarian aid effort on behalf of the persecuted Karen people of Burma . After the missionaries are taken prisoner by Burmese soldiers Rambo gets a second impossible job: rescue the missionaries in the midst of a civil war. If you've been wondering what ever happened to ex–Green Beret super warrior John Rambo since he single handedly shot up a Pacific Northwest town ( First Blood , 1982), returned to the jungles of 'Nam to free U.S. POWs held long after war's end ( Rambo: First Blood Part II , 1985), and interrupted the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan long enough to blow lots of stuff up and rescue his old commandant from the Reds ( Rambo III , 1988), then Rambo (2008) is for you. Without so much as a IV to dilute the brand name, Rambo which is what most of us called the second, most iconic film in the series--may aspire to open a new era for a pop legend. But it's a thoroughly mechanical attempt to reanimate a franchise that, absent the anger, frustration, and self-loathing of the post-Vietnam years, has no meaning or purpose. For some time now Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) has been putt-putting along the Thai-Burmese border in a longboat, catching exotic snakes to sell. As for the 60-year civil war in Burma between the brutal government and the Karen independence movement, he ignores it. Enter a party of American missionaries whose dewy blond spokeswoman ( Dexter 's Julie Benz) asks Rambo to haul them upriver so that they can bring medical aid to the insurgents. After the requisite number of monosyllabic refusals, he does. Soon afterward the do-gooders are in a world of hurt, and he's summoned to lead a squad of mercenaries on a rescue mission. As storytelling, the latest Rambo is the most bare-bones of the bunch. Rambo has little to say, so it's especially galling that Stallone, as director and co-writer, obliges him to have essentially the same conversation at three different points (the final distillation: "Live for nothing or die for something").www.rambofilm.com

Re:Ingnition
Re:ignition
- Empty Heart Loaded Gun

With all the cliches of music and how image oriented music has become, Re:Ingnition come with a straight up rock sound, hard guitar riffs and vocals to crush the ear drums of the listener. The release of Empty Heart, Loaded Gun, Re:Ingnition is not playing it safe with the sound they have. As record executives would probably feel the music is dated and past as there is no screaming or Clay Akien style singing on the record. Re:Ingnition has what I call Lynard Skynard meets the sound of new harder sound of rock. The CD takes you to a place of comfort rocking out to yourself or with a huge crowd, by not making you feel amashed to do it. Allowing you to get loose and forget your problems in the world even if just for the length of the CD. With the title of the CD and artwork people might asume the CD is for a metal/hardcore crowd. It may discourage people from taking a listen, as your mom told you don't judge a book by its cover; Re:Ingnition proves that point. The track "Like A Beating" has a high anthem feel that when you close your eyes you can feel the heat coming from the soul of the band. As the self tiled track "Empty Heart Loaded Gun" takes you on a journey of emotions that caputers your imagnaion.

Renee Zawawi - legends
Renee Zawawi - Legends
L
et's dance the night away and forget that problems that face us. Renee Zawawi brings a dance alt. sound to the world with "Legends." Renee reminds me of Nelly Furtado back during her first release but as a dance mix. Some of the tracks had her vocals a little high and not mixed well with the music track. That is not a major factor for Renee, since she seems to have enjoyed making the record which makes the listener enjoy the record as much as she had in making the record. The track Reunion is one of the tracks that make you want to grab your dance shoes and hit the dance floor. Fun dance music with an international appeal.

Robin Thicke
Robin Thicke - The Evolution of Robin Thicke

During the summer months the promotion for this CD was extensive. At that time you could turn your televison on and Robin Thicke and Pharrell would be on every music channel performing "Wanna Love you Girl." The Evolution of Robin Thicke is the second solo album from the critically acclaimed Grammy award winning songwriter and producer for such artists as Michael Jackson and Christina Aguilera. With a voice of purity, passion and soulfulness, Robin brings to life the stories and emotions of the last two years of his life featuring guest appearances from Faith Evans, Pharrell, and Lil' Wayne and production by The Neptunes. The Evolution Of Robin Thicke, I must say it's one of the finest R&B albums of Fall 2006, as it has intelligent lyrics and soul, with easy music to listen to.

Rock School
Rock School

Jack Black put out School of Rock and it seem to hit a crazy across this country wildfire. People wanting to know if this Rock Schools for kids existed and what they are like. This is a documentary, which is not described in the synopsis on the back of the case. Take away 90% of the charm of Jack Black's character in the movie School of Rock and you got real life teacher Paul Green. Paul can come off has a caring man at times throughout the documentary with the kids of The Paul Green School of Rock Music. For the most part he comes off as a vulgar ass hole who didn't make it in music, pushing the kids nonstop at times. However he does explain himself a lot why he is this way with the kids. Which does make for one outstanding teacher to push kids to the best of their abilities, which is rarely done nowadays. Using a digital video camera to gain intimate access to Green and the future rockers of America, filmmaker Don Argott has crafted a funny, alarming, and altogether fascinating documentary that has a lot to say about our national obsession with fame, the curious benefits of Green's peculiar style of teaching, and the undeniable value of encouraging young people to embrace their dreams.

The Rocket Summer - Do You Feel
The Rocket Summer - Do You Feel

I feel it! The Rocket Summer is back with their first major release now on Island Records titled "Do You Feel." "Do you Feel" is a record that will make kids happy to be their young age. At the same time it should make adults jealous of the young generation for being so young and filled with energy. Co-Produced by Jim Wirt (Incubus, Jack's Mannequin), it is also possibly the most energetic and upbeat album you'll hear all year. "Do You Feel" is full of guitar-fueled power-pop, piano-laced ballads and big, big choruses. The horn-driven "So Much Love," the first single, marks a bit of a departure, and one of the rare times Avary collaborated with other musicians because of his wanting to do greater things for the world, and not just to be a rock-'n'roll star. I think we all have that desire but our issues and daily life gets in the way. These songs are about trying to overcome that.

Santa's Slay
Santa's Slay

You might have seen the DVD case in your local video retail outlet and thought to yourself 'Holy Shit!' T he horror genre is going to hell and this is the lamest thing ever put out by Lions Gate Entertainment. Just like the cover of the case the movie is not intended to be taken seriously. The filmmakers actually told a very interesting story about Santa and how he became a psychotic killer. Santa Claus is actually a demon who lost a bet with an Angel, so he becomes the giver of toys and happiness. But when the bet is off, he returns to his evil ways. Bill Goldberg plays the devil's son who lost a wager with a angel and was forced to spend 1000 years playing Santa, but now the wager of that time has run out, and good old Santa isn't so joyful anymore. He makes up for lost time and starts to kill people. If you are up for laughs and a good horror fun, pick this up while you are out getting your sack.

Save The Last Dance 2
Save The Last Dance 2
(DVD)
Paramount and MTV have released Save The Last Dance 2. The direct to DVD release hit stores on October 10th. Izabella Miko stars in the film as Chicago native Sarah. She arrives in New York to attend Julliard with a firm love of hip-hop and a love of ballet. Shortly after arriving at Julliard she meets Miles. Miles is all about hip-hop and he takes an interest in Sarah and provides her with creative stimulation both inside and outside of the classroom. He is a Julliard drop out who now teaches at the school. Sarah isn't the greatest dancer in the world, but her mixture of classic ballet moves and modern hip-hop dance bring her fans, especially at the club when she wins a dance off up against the clubs hottest female dancer. Nightlife aside, Sarah has to keep up with a demanding ballet program all in efforts to become a prima ballerina. On top of that, her ballet teacher has a strong dislike of hip-hop culture. The "poignant, heart wrenching" aspect of the film comes with Sarah on a mission to find out why Miles dropped out of Julliard. She just can't understand why someone would give up on a Julliard education. Save The Last Dance 2 is an entertaining film, although the storyline isn't as poignant or well written as the original film. Certain elements of the film will remind a true film buff of the 80's dance film Girls Just Want To Have Fun The Movie. Take Save The Last Dance 2 for what it's worth, 82 minutes of home entertainment. The film includes a hip-hop flavored soundtrack and a guest appearance from R&B sensation Ne-Yo. One thing I noticed is several times the actresses native accent slips through in a few scenes. Izabella Miko is a Polish native who moved to the United States to pursue a ballet career, so she is no stranger to the ballet world.

Saves The Day - Under the Boards
Saves The Day - Under the Boards
Saves the Day have been officially labeled icons in the indie music world. Some may say this is a far stretch from old Saves the Day material. “Stay As You Are” is a classic record and will be for years. “Under the Boards” has the same feel as that classic record does. It takes the listener to a more musically grown up version of it as shown on the tracked “I get Fucked Up” where love is still the center of their music thought out lyrics. The artwork fit's the CD perfectly with a look of simplicity.

The Secret Handshake - On Full Year
The Secret Handshake - One Full Year

I cannot believe that The Secret Hand Shake is still one of the most under rated music acts. "One Full Year" was recorded on an Apple laptop in 2007. Which only brings up the point you don't really need a studio to make a good record. Luis of The Secret Handshake did bring in some live musicians for some parts of the album. "One Full Year" is a catchy love pop record filled with heartache and tears. You can label the record emo, but it's really not. Calling "One Full Year" an emo record is a copout. This record is for those looking for something catchy, warm and new to listen to.

Seizure Crypt - Hello My Name is Madness
Seizure Crypt - Hello My Name is Madness

Seizure Crypt's "Hello My Name is Madness" is seven hard hitting tracks showing no remorse for their thoughts on the world. "Hello My Name is Madness" has a problem here and there with production and song structure. Seizure Crypt is one of those bands that must take a lot of pride in their live shows because the CD is a good reflection on it. "Hello My Name is Madness" comes off as a practice session for a live show they had coming up and less as a music CD. If you enjoyed Biohazard's and D.F.L.'s first records they put out, then you will enjoy "Hello My Name is Madness" for the real and raw sound they bring. Don't be a bitch, get in the moshpit with Seizure Crypt.

2nd Day Crush - For The Nights You Lost Your Voice

“The Night You Lost Your Voice” is a perfect mix of indie pop and rock. 2nd Day Crush is electrifying and vibrant as you listen to it from start to finish. They brought back the importance of music but they never lost sight on this record. Each lyric is filled with an edgy rock sound. The listener will feel the passion that was put into the creation of each song. “For the Nights You Lost Your Voice” is the reason music lover’s go out and still buy records. Downloading music illegally is a crime but buying good music that makes you feel alive is priceless.

Secret Invasion [Comic Book]
Secret Invasion [Comic Book]

After months (even years) of anticipation, Secret Invasion is finally here. I’ll readily admit I wasn’t a big fan of Brian Bendis’ last epics, House of M and Secret War. House of M felt like 90% set up and 10% payoff and Secret War, well, just didn’t seem to go anywhere at all. With Secret Invasion I’m beginning to see how Secret War is finally going to pay on some dividends. Brian Bendis wastes no time creating complete chaos with this first issue. I hate making comparisons but it’s very reminiscent of the first 15 minutes of a summer blockbuster (ala Michael Bay). The potential confrontations are over before they even begin and we get a lot of damage on a planetary scale; not to mention explosions. The Skrulls make their move very quickly and everyone is pretty much caught off-guard; even Tony Stark, the futurist, didn’t see this one coming. He is held completely powerless to stop the onslaught. With the tone set at such a serious level I found it even more hilarious when I came across slices of humorous dialogue. I literally laughed out loud when I read this stuff. The timing was impeccable and the production values are just as impressive. I think this is Leinil Yu’s best work since that Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk series he did a few years back. They brought Mark Morales on board to ink his pencils was a touch of genius, too. Normally, I hate it when we get a book that’s digitally inked but Yu’s one of the few artists that can pull it off. With Secret Invasion, however; his art clearly takes a new shine with Morales’ inks. Laura Martin’s colors add to that shine adding a lot of vibrancy to Yu’s art. In a way this book looks like a brand new car you just bought off the lot. If only the cover by Gabriele Dell Otto wasn’t so dreary. It’s very hard to talk about this story without spoiling it, so I’ll just go into why the story works. The beginning gives us a good rationale as to what’s going on with the Skrulls. It’s moody, brooding, and all that dark stuff. From there the story slowly builds up speed until it hits a sprinter’s pace around page 20. From here till around page 40 (the last page), it’s a non-stop ride of suspenseful moments that’ll leave your jaw on the floor. Secret Invasion is off to a dizzying start and like its pace, it’ll leave you breathless.

Secret Invasion #2

Comic Books
Secret Invasion #2
Written by: Brian Michael Bendis
Pencils: LEINIL FRANCIS YU
Inks: Mark Morales
Colors: Laura Martin

The first thing that jumps out at me about this title is the artwork. Yu 's artwork is incredible in this book. I've been a fan of his since he first started on New Avengers , but somehow his art on Secret Invasion is so much better. It may be Mark Morales ‘ ink. I think they mesh really well. Yu has such a raw, jagged, rough style, that when he inks himself, it's good. But when you get an outside inker to smooth out his edges, it becomes so much better. Martin's colors definitely help even more. The book is downright beautiful. Moving on to the writing, Bendis is firing on all cylinders. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by a Bendis title, and this is no exception. In fact, I think he's at the top of his game. Especially since he's been planning this for… who knows how long? He's been planting the seeds in New Avengers and Mighty Avengers since the beginning, and the effort shows . The issue picks up where #1 ended: in the Savage Land with our heroes (the New and Mighty Avengers) facing off against old school versions of themselves including Phoenix, Beast, Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, the White Queen (Emma Frost), the Invisible Woman, the Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Thor, Mockingbird, and the Vision, among others. It doesn't take long for both groups of heroes, each assuming the other is a group of Skrulls, to engage in battle. Once again the Sentry is deflected by throwing his paranoia into his face. For as much as I love this awesome character, I hate how easily he's defeated time and time again. In fact, it only took one page, made up of 8 panels to defeat the Sentry. Earth's Mightiest Hero? The Battle continues. Ronin, who is actually Clint Barton (the original Hawkeye) takes charge of the situation and starts taking out the other side one by one, starting with the other side's Hawkeye. Before he can finish, a huge dinosaur comes out of the jungle and breaks up the fight, killing a few of the fighters including the old-school Hawkeye and Spider-Man, who were both Skrulls. Turns out some of the heroes that came out of the ship were Skrulls, and others were not. We get confirmation that Mockingbird was definitely not a Skrull, and she assumes the Captain America on the ship is the real deal. Meanwhile, the Skrull ship shows up in NYC and dozens of crazy ass looking Super Skrulls come out. It should also be noted that Tony Stark's armor has been incapacitated, but he's hard at work building something to beat the Skrulls with. This issue was great. The dialogue was so much fun, including the two Spider-Men bantering. “Ugh! Tell me I'm NOT that annoying.” - “You are.” - “(I Know.)” Classic. The issue definitely puts the idea into your head that Captain America's death was all Skrully, and the true blue Cap was on that ship… but personally, I don't think so. Every time we've seen Skrulls die, we've seen them revert back to their Skrully look. The Captain America that died did not become a Skrull afterwards. So I don't think they're going to pull that on us. I do, however, think Phoenix on the ship was the real one. It'll be great to see her back without it being a temporary “back from the dead for one storyline then dead again” scheme. It would be great if she stuck around for good. To wrap up, Ms. Marvel's ass is amazing. Read this book, and all future issues. www.marvel.com

The Seventh Season - Liquid Water
The Seventh Season - Liquid Water

Amazing album, amazing band. The Seventh Season is a three piece band which brings a full sound with their album Liquid Water. Rock and Roll is the only way to describe this band with intelligent music from all ways around. From the thought out lyrics to the outstanding arrange of music, this is a highly likeable rock album with twelve tracks of interest to listeners besides musicians. The Seventh Season is one of the most talented rock acts on the independent circuit at this time. Making rock music for rock fans and not underestimating the music listener's intelligence.

Silent Hill
Silent Hill (DVD) (2006)

The movie doesn't make too much sense. Only at the end of the movie does it seem like things are coming together and even then not too much is explained.
It's incredibly long and boring. Much of the time it just shows Rose (the main character) wandering around in Silent Hill, which is pointless when all you can see is white and a few buildings. The movie is supposed to be scary, than it is a serious "What the hell is that?" sort of creepy. If the makers of this game are trying to create the same terror the games did, they failed miserably. I actually felt like stopping the movie halfway through out of shear disappointment.

The Simpsons: Movie
The Simpsons: Movie
Eighteen years later and we finally get a Simpson's Movie. The movie lover in me likes this heart warming flick with this famous family, even at times when Homer Simpson gets less funny and more annoying. The fan boy side was let down for a bunch of reasons. One of them being the characters of Springfield are used as extras to fill space on the screen and nothing more. At the same time they did do a lot of shocking things throughout the movie which could never be seen on TV. This is a hard movie to sell to normal movie lovers and not Simpson fan's since the story is not the best. To the die-hard Simpsons fans the movie can seem like an extended version of the television show. You have to admire the creator's of The Simpson's for doing something so daring with a cult following. They did do a descent job in telling a story in a movie format, it may not be the best but it's definitely worth a view. As far as the extras go it's nothing over the top. There are a couple of commentary tracks, some delete scenes and of course trailers. I can bet in the soon future we will see another version of The Simpson's Movie being put out for home viewing. slipknot DVD
Slipknot: Voliminal/ Inside The Nine

Don't believe the hype that Roadrunner Records put out about this release. Lets cover the first disc the movie portion. First up it's not a movie, it's 90 Mins of a wannabe art student making a film. It's annoying on how many times you have to press enter to get the film in the first place. A screen of a fly comes on, so the average DVD users thinks a menu is going to come up. Well after you press enter it takes you to a metallic looking screen, then you have to press enter again and a screen pops up with images of Slipknot, press enter again. Congratulations you made it to the film part now. There is no story like you would think with the title movie. It's 90 min's of footage with fast paced clips. Now on to the better part of the two disc set. Slipknot put a bunch of videos, live clips and awesome interviews. Way better than the first disc. The interviews includes interviews with all nine members unmasked. The interviews I feel should have been what the movie should have been. The DVD is not the easiest to navigate on either disc, it's a little to artistic for me. Coming from a band that calls their fans Maggots.

Slither
Slither (DVD)
It's time to do some old school horror. We can all say the story or acting is ground breaking but this is a horror movie, so the rules need not apply. A mysterious meteor infected with a deadly alien plague brings chaos to a small hunting town. I know it sounds like a movie not to miss. As thousands of squirmy space slugs burrow into the brains of the unsuspecting rednecks creating an ever-amassing horde of mindless space zombies. Panic grips the small town and it's time to put an end to the infection and save the planet! Feature-length directorial debut of screenwriter James Gunn of Scooby-Doo & Dawn of the Dead. There is plenty of gore and bad acting, the one true thing it needed to be a great horror movie would have been more nudity. for this not to be a great horror movie.

The Showdown
The Showdown- Temptation Come My Way
Powerful, driving hard rock riffs that drive you to throw up the horns and head bang right along. Listening to the album it reveals several late-70s-to-mid-80s arena rock and metal influences (Such as Lynard Sknard and Metallica). Bare no holds bar and no apple-core, this is a genuine rock and roll album. They start with "Whores and Fanatics" and melt every track, including the heavy southern blues sound of "It Drinks From Me." This is a powerful album with a great message to boot. Near the end of the CD they even throw in a spectacular cover of the classic hit "Carry On Wayward Son" to bring back even more memories of when rock was genuine. ( www.theshowdownmetal.com )

Sicko
Sicko
This is not a documentary. Sicko is a film that has to make american's wake up from their normal way at looking at the Untied States Health care system. I know Michael Moore is not the best person to change an average person's view on things. This film has gotten a lot of unjustified criticism from major media outlets such as CNN. We all know Michael Moore is the king of propaganda film. I really began to dislike this gentlemen after Fahrenheit 9/11 came out. I felt that film was so much bullshit that had points in it but anyone willing to think could take and pick the fiction from the fact. Sicko has some over the top scenes that Moore is known for. I felt with this film you could take away the over the top scenes and the trips to other countries and cut them out and keep all the footage of America Health Care System. You really have to look at the American citizens and ask them if this what you as a country want to be known for, a heartless group of people that don't care about their fellow man. How about for the fact we buy insurance for our family hoping we can use it when we need it, and then live in fear from your insurance company if, god forbid, the day you are sick. I recommend this film for the people that want to see how sick american are getting treated by the healthcare industry as well as a group of people that no longer care about the people on the bottom of things. If you think this film is bullshit ask yourself how many times have you had to fight with your insurance company?

Sixx: A.M. - The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack
Sixx: A.M. - The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack

Dark, scary, emotional and all true. The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack is the music aspect for Nikki Sixx's book titled "The Heroin Diaries." As a lot of the 80's idols have made come backs to the lime light to capitalize on their name, such as Tommy Lee with the famous video tape and let's not forget Methods of Mayhem and his self titled side project Tommy Lee. Also C.C. Deville with the Surreal Life venture and now you got Bret Michael's with his show which he is looking for true love on the Rock of Love. So let's throw Nikki Six into the mix doing what most people fear, baring his soul. The record takes on a tough subject. It starts off with a excerpt from the Heroin Diaries book. The songs are extremely dark and gives a positive message which does not glamorize drugs. It makes you fear the environment in which Nikki Sixx was placed in. We can tell kids not to drugs and have them go attend D.A.R.E. programs. In the end a lot of homes fail with it. The Heroin Diaries takes you though the place those places can not go. The Heroin Diaries has some of the best music placed in the record as every song has a different feel to it. Now with the record being out I am extremely excited about the book coming out. The record brings hope to some and most of all excellent music with it. (www.sixxammusic.com)

Smashing Pumpkins - Zelitgeist
Smashing Pumpkins - Zelitgeist

Is it a come back that most original fans of the Smashing Pumpkins would want to see? I would gladly say no. In fact only two of the members are from the original line-up. I see this as a huge gimmick to an already established fan based that the Pumpkins had in the 90's. With the lack of success that Billy Corgan had with his two other previous projects, Zwan as well as his solo CD, Zelitgeist gives music to people who want something new but didn't want to let go of the 90's. Creating a new breed of "That Guy," and when I say "That Guy" I mean the guys you still find out at shows with Mullets wearing a Queenryche T-shirt. Now it gives people a chance to sport their old 90's clothes (again not letting go of the past), however, the music in Zeitgiest is fun in the fact as a listener I can remember loving the 90's. I would not call this a classic as the other Smashing Pumpkins CD have been, but more damaging to the name of The Smashing Pumpkins.

Smiley Face
Smiley Face

Do you remember those days of getting so stoned you couldn't leave your house. Smiley Faces has to be one of the funniest movies put out in a while. Pro or Anti Marijuana this film will put a smile on your face. Slacker actress Jane F (Anna Faris), is having a bad day that is getting more outrageous by the minute. Jane's misadventures begin when she treats herself to a batch of cupcakes left unattended by her psycho roommate (Danny Masterson), that proves to be not as innocent as they appear. She then bums a ride from her roommate's friend (John Krasinski) and attempts to cross town so she can repay an unforgiving drug dealer, attend an audition, and somehow replace the precious cupcakes. Enjoy the wild journey as Jane's efforts to get through her day prove an arduous task of epic proportions. Rather it be remembering getting high or how much you wish all drugs were gone from this planet. This film is one that each viewer can take what they want from it. More then likely Smiley Face will be a cult classic.

Snakes on a Plane
Snakes on a Plane
If you are looking for some kick-ass monster scenes then "Snakes on a Plane" manages to do just that and nothing more. Nelville Flynn escorts a witness onto a plane headed for Los Angeles. Problem is, an assassin who is bent on killing the witness has released a crate containing about 450 snakes onto the same plane. Nelville finds out and he's bent on doing his job and getting the snakes back where they belong; on land or in snake heaven. But can he get the snakes off the plane before it's too late? The story has a ton of holes and it doesn't follow through in a lot of places. The actors who took the roles knew not to take this film serious. Except for Samuel L. Jackson, I felt he thought he was making one masterpiece. The DVD does manages to include a lot of extras in it. If you like the movie the extras do a good job in providing features from bloopers, commentary tracks, the popular Cobra Starship "Snakes on a Plane" video and more. Depending on the sale of the movie, you can almost bet an unrated version will follow in months.

Sounds of Animals Fighting
Sound of Animals Fighting - Lover, The Lord Has Left Us

Lover, The Lord Has Left Us… is the follow-up album from progressive rock amalgam The Sound of Animals Fighting, whose 2005 Tiger and the Duke was a milestone on the road of experimental music. Lover's expansion into alternative genres, alternative sounds, and alternative media qualifies TSOAF, further this time, as a major pioneering entity in the search for new modes of musical expression and meaning. New (the Ram, the Penguin and the Wolf?) and returning (the Hyena, the Nightingale, the Walrus, the Lynx and the Skunk) animals alike add their own infusion, sensibilities and particular steps, each given a day to complete their piece of the final structure, working remotely and adding subsequent layers of their own invention to the highly organic project. The result is a candid, ubiquitous concert of musical talent, inspiration, spontaneity and collaboration that lets the taste of each artist combine and marinate, adding a complexity and a depth to each track that would not exist without both complimenting, and being complimented by, the other tracks on the album

SoundofAnimalsFightingDVD
Sound of Animals Fighting - We Must Become The Change We Want To See
Once in a long while a group of musicians get together to make outstanding music. In the winter of 2005, Sound of Animals Fighting did the impossible, a four date west coast tour though the House of Blues circuit. Which is captured in this DVD. In the underground music scene, some could say Sound of Animals Fighting is a super group of sorts. The amazing thing though is Equal Vision Records along with Sound of Animals Fighting don't rely on the fact of their already established fame to sell products. The DVD has the full hour set which was performed by Sound of Animals Fighting along with backstage photos. I would recommend this DVD for people who are wondering who is actually the Sound of Animals Fighting. If you went to the any of the live performance, then you already know this is one amazing music group. However there is only two ways to get the the walrus, the ram, the lynx, the nightingale, the skunk, the dog, the octopus, the hyena, the penguin, the wolf?, the koala , which is though MerchDirect.com and Hot Topic select outlets.

So They Say - Life in Surveillance
So They Say - Life In Surveillance
At first listen you hear the name of the band "So They Say." For some strange reason, with pop culture around us twenty four seven, there is an urge to automatically place them in the current stereotypical genres (Such as emo, post-hardcore, alternative, etc .) of music. Hopefully, we can all some what agree in the end it is just rock music set for today's youth. So They Say dips into a little bit of every rock genre on the new record "Life in Surveillance." From the upbeat rock anthem of "Just Forget My Name," to the alternative sounds of "Whisper Of Sin." Which in the end makes a great record that hold up today's standards.

Southland Tales
Southland Tales

Southland Tales is an ensemble piece set in the futuristic landscape of Los Angeles as it stands on the brink of social, economic and environmental disaster. Boxer Santaros is an action star who's stricken with amnesia. His life intertwines with Krysta Now, an adult film star developing her own reality television project, and David Clark, a Hermosa Beach police officer who holds the key to a vast conspiracy. Well, filmmakers should aim high, they say, and Richard Kelly shot to the moon on his highly-anticipated follow-up to cult sensation Donnie Darko, which expands the apocalyptic mood of that movie and blows it up tenfold. Set during the election season of 2008, Southland Tales proposes a series of apparently linked events: the reappearance of a vanished movie star (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), now an amnesiac; the bizarre doubling of a policeman (Seann William Scott, in two roles); the development of an energy source from ocean waves; and the presence of an Iraq War veteran (Justin Timberlake) who seems to be watching everything, and narrating some of it. Richard Kelly’s Southland Tales has high energy filled with a stunning visual side to it. This movie cannot be summarized or explained easily, so see it for yourself.

Sparta
Sparta - Threes

Brilliant, artistic and charming from beginning to end. Sparta brings it all with the third major release Threes. On the opening track "Untreatable Disease" Sparta brings the emotion of soft opening to a rock edge close. Sparta fans have speculated that it is a partial autobiography of front man Jim Ward's personal life. Unlike Sparta's other releases this one is a lot more mellow. Twelve songs dealing with doubt, anger, love, and most importantly hope. Not only are the emotions and words in the right place the music clearly speaks for it's self. There is a great freedom you can see with this band. Sparta found that freedom with this release. You can say Sparta makes music for themselves and that makes the band decidedly not so mainstream.

Stealing Jane - Say Something

Stealing Jane - Say Something
Stealing Jane just might be the next Maroon 5. “Say Something” is a record you can dance or rock out to. The mix of musical influences can be overkill but in the case of Stealing Jane it turns out to be the right mix. “Say Something” has a mix of rock, pop, and R&B to keep the heat turned on.

Superbad [Unrated].
Superbad [Unrated]
American Pie was a corner stone film for portraying high school geek's setting out to get laid. Now let's take the real kids of high school and show them off. Superbad is a more down to earth film in the end. It does go over board during some parts of the story. When your watching a comedy it really does have to do that. I enjoyed the hilarious opening of the movie. When the film comes to a closing, it gave such a warm hearted feel to it. The two disc edition covers every aspect of the film leaving nothing to the imagination. They take you from casting, to production up to the press circuit. If you enjoy films, by all means pick up the single edition. If you loved this movie, I know you already own the two disc edition. ( Superbad )

Superman: Doomsday
Superman: Doomsday (DVD)
Key-word here "Inspired by "The Death of Superman" best selling graphic novel. I was so looking forward to this but I was lost as fan-boy going that was not in the comic book. The film has one hard market to find, it is too adult orientated for young kids. Then the fan-boys we all know are left with confusion as the movie is nothing like the book. The film plays, it does manages to tell a good story that a normal Hollywood studio would have done with this project. Fan boys however will see DC Studios, and probably will not take their future projects too serious now. Which is a shame as the main market for this movie was the fan-boys. The fan-boys are the poor guys living in their parents house at the poor age of thirty-five. They waited until the hour it came out and ran to the store and picked it up with quickness, only to be upset that studio that made this movie is the same one that made the comic book. They should have made this into a live action and put it into theatres, then maybe our fan-boys would have been less upset. But then again maybe the internet would be less busy about this subject. No complaint here.. I'd rather hear about Superman than Britney Spears. The 75-minute animated movie is presented in a 1.78:1 anamorphic wide screen format. The DVD contains a sharp picture quality and a great 2.0 Dolby Digital sound. It supplemental features include the extensive "Requiem and Rebirth: Superman Lives!" documentary, an exclusive 10-minute sneak peek of the upcoming animated adventure "Justice League: The New Frontier", interviews with the voice cast and an audio commentary with the production crew.

superman returns
Superman Returns
Look it's a bird, no it's a storm of flooded geek's running to pick up Superman Returns. Film maker Bryan Singer (X-men, X-Men 2) brings what comic book lovers of Superman would enjoy to the big screen. The story is five years later after the last Superman film took place. Superman is back to save the world from the evil Lex Luthor. The big surprises are easy to figure out before the end of the film. The downside to the film is Lois Lane being portrayed by Kate Bosworth. I got to give huge props to Bryan Singer for making us geek's happy with the opening credits. Their are two version of the DVD out at this time a standard one disc and a special two disc edition. We have the one disc here at the office, and it's easy to give you the low down on features. It contains a scene access, a language selection, and a play move tab. That's all for the one disc, making it simple for the average person who doesn't watch the extras. So when you go pick up this DVD you can choose a movie watcher version or geek edition.

Superman: For Tomorrow Volume One
Superman: For Tomorrow Volume One
I've hated Superman since I was a little kid. In comics and movies he's always been portrayed as the ultimate hero who pretends to be a clumsy goof to fool everyone. He has one weakness; which is pieces of his home planet, pieces of rock, that everyone seems to be able to get a hold of just so things can at least appear a little challenging. I have never cared much for Superman, but I still find myself seeking out well-written tales of the "Man of Steel." So when I heard the about Brian Azzarello and Jim Lee's take on the Big Blue, I decided to give it a shot. Collecting Superman #204-209 (the first half of this year-long tale), Superman: For Tomorrow Volume 1 is one of the better Superman stories of the past few years. While Superman is off in space, millions of people across Earth suddenly disappear. Superman returns too late to stop the disappearances that devastate the world, but discovers quickly that the global tragedy struck all-too close for the "Man of Steel." Lois Lane is gone and Superman is so despondent about his failings that he visits a priest for an ongoing confessional that runs the length of the story. Superman is always most interesting when his superiority is put into question. Azzarello poses the perfect question: What happens when Superman fails? This isn't like losing a battle to Metallo or even having his ass handed to him by Batman, this is a global act of terror and the fact that he could do nothing to stop it leaves Superman questioning his abilities and his purpose. The introspective aspects of Superman: For Tomorrow give way to the necessary megalomaniacal villain and a giant brute in need of a pounding. There's nothing terribly astounding in these moments, but they serve as necessary guideposts between each of Superman's visits to the priest. Superman: For Tomorrow was a double-dose of danger for me, since I'm also not a fan of Jim Lee. However, just as the story has made even a Superman hater like myself give a tender golf clap in support, I have nothing bad to say about Lee's work on this book. In fact, this is some of the best work I've seen from Jim Lee. If For Tomorrow should give you any real pause for concern, it's that this is merely the first of two volumes. When you reach the end of the first half of the tale, you are going to want Volume two of the story. This is one Superman story worth reading.

Superman - The Death of Superman
Superman - The Death of Superman

I dug this out of my collection after watching Superman: Doomsday. The story that drew national media attention when DC Comics killed their greatest hero is collected here. When a hulking monster emerges from an underground resting place and begins a mindless rampage, the Justice League is quickly called in to stop the colossal force of nature. But it soon becomes apparent that only Superman can stand against the monstrosity that has been nicknamed Doomsday. They battle their way throughout America , the two fights until they come to a standstill when they reach the heart of Metropolis. Going punch for punch, Superman finally ends the threat of Doomsday as he throws one last punch and collapses forever. This is a must own for comic book lovers whether it be a original or reprint copy. DC Comics

Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street [Single Disc Version]

After years of rumors, it turns out that Tim Burton was the perfect visionary to film Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Stephen Sondheim's Broadway masterpiece. The result is a macabre and moving musical movie as enthralling as anything Burton has ever done. Johnny Depp stars in the title role as a man unjustly sent to prison that vows revenge, not only for that cruel punishment, but for the devastating consequences of what happened to his wife and daughter. When he returns to reopen his barber shop, Sweeney Todd becomes the Demon Barber of Fleet Street who "shaved the heads of gentlemen who never thereafter were heard from again." Joining Depp is Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs. Lovett, Sweeney's amorous accomplice who creates diabolical meat pies. The cast also includes Alan Rickman, who portrays the evil Judge Turpin who sends Sweeney to prison and Timothy Spall as the Judge's wicked associate Beadle Bamford and Sacha Baron Cohen is a rival barber, the flamboyant Signor Adolfo Pirelli. The one advantage of seeing this fine film on DVD is the option of turning on the subtitles so as not to miss a word of Sondheim's superb lyrics. This uniquely economical and endlessly creative production goes to the core of the work better than any other version and if this traveling company comes anywhere near your home, go see it!
