Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (Unrated)
Will Ferrell is back doing what he does best by making a SNL style comedy. NASCAR stock car racing sensation Ricky Bobby (Will Ferrell) is a national hero because of his "win at all costs" approach. He and his loyal racing partner, childhood friend Cal Naughton Jr. (John C. Reilly), are a fearless duo -- "Shake" and "Bake" by their fans for their ability to finish so many races in the #1 and #2 positions, with Cal always in second place. When flamboyant French Formula One driver Jean Girard (Sacha Baron Cohen) challenges "Shake" and "Bake" for the supremacy of NASCAR, Ricky Bobby must face his own demons and fight Girard for the right to be known as racing's top driver. The movie is fairly fast, but has numerous catch phases throughout the entire film. So yeah this movie isn't one of the best for Will Ferrell, but it does manage to tell a sweet simple fictional story of a NASCAR racer, Ricky Bobby. The DVD is fully loaded with a lot of extras, 13 more minutes of footage, deleted and extend scenes and much more.

Idiot Pilot
Location: The Pearl [Inside The Palms Casino] (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Date: April 8th, 2008
It was a weekday night and this unattractive person is at the hottest spot, The Pearl. This place is known for holding many big events such as MTV’s VMA, awards ’07, Marilyn Manson’s Halloween Show, and Tool. I have never been inside The Pearl before this point. I was really looking forward to checking it out. Unfortunately I had some box office issues. When they finally find my tickets felt like Charlie in the Chocolate Factory; Now I got the golden ticket.
I rushed to get in line to get inside The Pearl. I felt great other than just being a little bummed out that I missed some of the show. I had a long walk down what seemed like a lot of stairs to get to the floor of the venue. The anticipation was killing me as I walked down the hallway to get into the music hall.
The Pearl is the most beautiful venue I have been in. I looked up and everyone from the floor, Plaza and Balcony had amazing views of the stage. They were filming the show for the projection screens to be shown to the audience on High Definition camera‘s. The sound was amazing. Everything seemed over the top; however, I was at a rock show and at one of the most sought out rock shows of the year “The Taste of Chaos.”
Every person in the crowd seemed to be dead. No one was moshing, head banging, crowd surfing, and no cheap smoke was coming from any where inside the venue. Band after band was going on yet it seemed like everyone was dead. I enjoyed every band going on the stage giving it their all. During the show I found out that the security was tight and if you did any of the actions listed above you would be kicked out of the show.
The big downside to this show was that it took place the Pearl. At most markets the Taste of Chaos was two stages except for the Las Vegas date. The Second Stage acts got to use about thirty five percent of the stage. There were two small areas (one of each side of the stage) that were allocated for the Second Stage acts. Most of the time you could only see a few members from the second stage acts on the stage. The Pearl Production Staff did an amazing job at change over’s though. There would only be a few minutes here and there with no live music being played during evening. Another plus for the show since The Pearl is not located on the strip the show was allowed to run until 11:30pm. Most all ages concerts that take place in Las Vegas have to be over around 9:45pm due to curfew restrictions that surround venues.
When I left the venue I felt that I cheated myself by going to see the Taste of Chaos in Las Vegas. It was a great show but it felt like I came out of a movie instead of a concert. The Pearl took an amazing concert package and made it feel like another strip attraction that you could catch anytime in the City of Sin. Maybe I am just getting old and still want to see people react to the music in a concert setting.

Taxi Doll - Strange Rush
Rock and Roll with an electronic dance pop mix to groove to it, that is what the Los Angeles group Taxi Doll did with their record “Strange Rush.“ This is a guilty pleasure record without fillers. The five song E.P. is a unique blend of energetic rock music that people can dance to. Taxi Doll has summed up their music as “Rocktronica.” Taxi Doll is not new to the music industry as the band has had their music in numerous television shows, movies and video games. Listening to “Strange Rush“ is like making hard sweet love to your ears as you dance the night away.

TECH N9NE: The Psychumentary
The Psychumentary gives you, the viewer, and an exclusive look into one day in the life of Tech N9NE. The DVD has over 90 minutes of footage including live performances from shows all over the country. The psychumentary gives you an “All Access Pass” into his world while you get to watch from the comfort of your own couch. You get to see his personal relationships and the demons he wrestles daily. Tech N9ne has once again provided his fans with an ultimate package that shows off his real connection to his music, family, business, and fans. For those who are not fans of Tech N9ne or rap the DVD works well as an amazing film too. It shows how much people sometimes have to sacrifice to make their dreams come true. The downside is the live footage audio source come from the camera, which I love but can cut some enjoyment for nit pickers. Most of the film is shot in a car with Tech speaking into the camera. When Tech is speaking you don’t want the camera to go off at anytime. You feel Tech’s emotions as he is speaking 100% from the heart. The Psychumentary proves that real people do exist in the entertainment industry.

Tech N9NE - Everyready: The Religion
The King, The Clown, and The G is the subject matter for Tech N9ne's highly anticipated follow up to his CD "Absolute Power." Tech still manages to spit fire every time he rhymes and being very persistent on what his says. The album takes the listener on a journey creating three chapters, three dimensions of himself, as he puts it; The King, The Clown and The G. From the intro "Enter Everready" to the last track "This is Me," Tech manages to make music his way. Following the traits of Eminem, Tech brought his two daughters on a track titled "The Rain." Unlike the Eminem track he did with his daughter, "The Rain" is a song about how hard it is to be on the road and not seeing your kids for months at a time. The first single "Bout Ta Bubble" is one of the best club track for hip-hop/rap I feel for 2006. It reminds of another track he did called "Einstein" for his album Anghellic. It's produced with a great beat and lyrics, unlike most of the songs you will hear in the club for 2006. It is not based on simple chorus'. The track "Riot Maker" shows his love for rock with heavy guitars, and grinding lyrics. On the closing track "This is Me," Tech sums it up on why you won't find to much love in the mainstream for him. " In the eyes of B.E.T, I am too rock and roll, in the eyes of MTV, My name is too gangster." With the purchase of Everyready: The Religion, comes a second disc called "The Strange Music Library" which features 15 tracks from artist's signed to Strange Music. Mainstream or not, this CD has to be one of the best underrated records for 2006.

Tech N9NE - Misery Loves Kompany
Tech N9ne sets the bar for music in every direction with each album he puts out. If you don't know who Tech N9ne is then you're missing out on some awesome music. On "Misery Loves Kompany" all of tracks but two are collaborations with other rappers. As always Tech tares this entire CD up on every single track. This one is just some gritty, grimy, low down dirty music and it's just great from beginning to end. This a brilliant CD that tells a prolific story, the disc has it all and more. On the track "Message to the Black Man" Tech N9ne go one place no other rapper will probably go with their lyrics for years.

Tenious D: In the Pick of Destiny (DVD)
This is the story of a friendship that changes the course of rock history forever. The fateful collision of minds between JB and KG that led to the creation of the precedent-shattering band Tenacious D, and of the two heroes' quest to find the fabled Guitar Pick Of Destiny. A dozen years after they introduced their mock-rock power duo on the Los Angeles club scene, Jack Black and Kyle Gass finally got the movie showcase (a partial spin off from the D's short-lived HBO series) their fans had been waiting for, and it's a rocking' romp with plenty of crude laughs that will hit home for anyone who's ever played air guitar to Meat Loaf's "Bat out of Hell." It's a Beavis and Butt-head -like origin story, recalling the legend (ahem) of how JB (Black) and KG (Gass) met and bonded over bong-hits and rock-operatic guitar licks, then set out (on a tip from a crazed guitar-store clerk played by Ben Stiller) to find the mythic pick of destiny, used by all guitar gods and said to be fashioned from the tooth of Satan. Their quest includes a variety of well-cast cameos (including Tim Robbins, Meat Loaf, and Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl as Satan himself) and there's plenty of flatulence, drug humor, at least one hilarious fantasy sequence, and outrageous sight gags too numerous to mention. If you're not ready to Rock to this Opera, this potential cult favorite may not be for you, but give it try anyway. Their is a lot of bonus features but I say the "Jump to a song" feature is one cool highlight.

This Film Is Not Rated
Academy Award nominated Director Kirby Dick does his own personal investigation on how films are rated though the MPAA. When the MPAA refuses to let Dick's cameras in, he hires a team of female private investigators to uncover Hollywood's best secret, the identities of the film censors themselves. This movie has sit down interviews with John Waters (A Dirty Shame), Matt, Stone (South Park), Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry), Kevin Smith (Clerks II) and more about their dealings with the MPAA. This film will shock and offend you about how films are rated. This is a top quality film at it's finest but it's not for the uptight. This film carry's a Not Rated rating proudly. There is no actually nudity but sexual scenes that carry black bars on them. They are used to make points about the MPAA rating system. Just a cautious note with people who have kids and are not parents. This is a must see for any movie lover in the United States, see how your films are getting CENSORED.

Transformers [One Disc Edition]
First up, I am not a Transformers geek that knows a shit load of stuff about them. So I can not really tell you what Michael Bay did right or wrong with the story lines. The gist of the story is good robots fight bad robots. So it is a simple story line that takes on an "A list" of actors with great effects. This film did what it was intended for, make the audience get swept up in the special effects and care less about the story. Their is a story but when you are watching huge robots fight each other who really cares about the story line. Transformers is a cool movie to watch and help's you escape your every day life. It is not made to make you think but rather look at the special effects that happen in the film.

300 (Single Disc Edition)
Fighting, dying, splattered blood, This is a visual treat, here's to the Spartans who refused to bow down in defeat. The epic graphic novel by Frank Miller (Sin City) assaults the screen with the blood, thunder and awe of its ferocious visual style faithfully recreated in an intense blend of live-action and CGI animation. Retelling the ancient Battle of Thermopylae, it depicts the titanic clash in which King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fought to the death against Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro) and his massive Persian army. Experience history at sword point and movie making with a cutting edge. While the script gets a bit over-the-top at times, it's hard not to be moved by dialogue that can be darkly funny, "It's just an eye. The gods saw fit to grace me with a spare" or stirring "He did not wish tribute, nor song, or monuments or poems of war and valor. His wish was simple: 'Remember us'." " That was his hope, should any free soul come across that place, in all the countless centuries yet to be." 300 is a unique, stirring, stunning movie that pushes the action-movie envelope, and gives a thrilling edge to a real-life story of overwhelming power. A brilliant movie.

3 Mile Scream - A Prelude to Our Demise
Time to scare your parents with music that even Hot Topic can't manage to do now-a-days. Coming with gut renching screams and hard music, as axle rose said "Gonna, Watch You Bleed!" In the vein as previous acts Lamb of God, Chimaira & Bury Your Dead. They bring a mix of melody and brutality to their music. Best shown on the track "Dare to Question", taking the listener grabbing them by the balls as melody comes in
and rips out thier skull with their intenstines. 3 Mile Scream, comes with thier release A Prelude to our Demise, proving they should not be overlooked.

30 Days of Night (DVD)
Josh Harnett (Black Dahlia, Pearl Harbor ) crosses over to the dark side in this bone-chilling adaptation of the cult-hit graphic novel, brought to the screen in all its demonic glory. In a small Alaskan town, thirty days of night is a natural phenomenon. Very few outsiders visit, until a band of bloodthirsty, deathly pale vampires mark their arrival by savagely attacking sled dogs. But soon they find there is much more satisfying thirst-quenchers around: human beings. One by one, the townspeople succumb to a living nightmare, but a small group survives at least for now. The vampires use the dark to their advantage, and surviving this cold hell is a game of cat and mouse - and screams. 30 Days of Night is pretty much a siege movie with heavy elements of horror and gore. Movies always succeed and fail depending on whether the tension and dread built up from the beginning of the film suspends the audience's disbelief. Films like The Thing and Romero's Living Dead trilogy works well because right from the get-go we see the tension build not just on location but within the besieged survivors as well. Survival becomes that much more difficult due to human frailties and an inability to work together bringing the whole group down. The monsters outside are bad enough, but sometimes it's the survivors themselves who must share the blame. 30 Days of Night Website

36 Crazyfists - Rest Inside the Flame
36 Crazyfists coming with their third major release, however it's their first for their new North American label DRT Entertainment. From their previous releases on this one front man Brock L. does a lot more screaming on this release. Don't label this band hardcore or emocore as they bring a melodic feel with hard hitting grooves. The song structure fits the current standards of music. Not having a big budget like a lot of bands, it didn't stop them from bringing guests on for this record like Howard Jones, Jay Jenkins and Tom Gomes. The opening track "I'll Go Until My Heart Stops" sets a great pace for the record, showing off the great song structure to the hard hitting vocals. I feel this record is not going to go down as one of the best pieces for the 36 Crazy Fists' but it's a great add to their already existing catalog by keeping it in the same vein as their previous releases. As well as not making the exact same CD over.

TubRing - The Great Filter
TubRing brings something new and creative with their new record "The Great Filter," now signed to End Records. Throw any ideas you have about how music is supposed to made, into the recycle bin. TubRing has been around in the underground scene for years, however, vocalist Kevin Gibson is the only original member left in the band with fellow keyboardist Rob Kleiner joining him for the last 10 years. With new people onboard for this TubRing record it has a lighter sound than previous albums. The opening track "Friends and Enemies," vocalist Kevin Gibson takes his vocals along with lyrics in a new direction. Going back to please their core audience they have a track titled "Get Help (Now!)" that is wonderful, beautiful, and a little chaotic at times. They are probably still one of the few most memorable and original bands in the current music scene. "The Great Filter," takes the music and gives it a new refreshing spin on things.

Twiztid - "Independents Day"
It's time to let the ghost and goblins loose on the sometimes boring music scene. Twiztid, now with many records under their belt, have created one of the best catalogs for their fans to own. A lot of reviewers have compared the group to the horror-core icons The Insane Clown Posse. Just as their name says don't get it twisted. "Independents Day" is where I would like to see a lot of music go, by holding no restrictions on music and creating it well. By crossing the bar of metal and hip-hop but staying original is hard to do for artists a lot of the time. "Independents Day" is a massive attack from the underground music scene, bringing in underground hip-hop icons The Dogg Pound, Dj Quick, Proof & Bizzar (of D-12 Fame), Potluck, Tech N9ne, The Insane Clown Posse, Blaze ya Dead Home, R.O.C., Dj Clay, Krizz Kalic, Dayton Family, as well as the nu-metal act HED P.E. to add a flair to the jam packed CD. To people unfamiliar with Twiztid the CD probably won't understand the track "Raw Deal (The Juggalo Song)," which is a track made for their already established fan based but welcomes new comers to their family. You do not need to be a Juggalo or know what a Juggalo is to know Twiztid is in fact one of the most original acts on the market. The one track that I could say stood out a lot more than the others was the track "How I Live." It's a simple beat but works better than most beats you would find on a hip-hop records nowadays.

28 Degrees Taurus - How Do You Like Your Love?
The psychedelic music hit my ears with 28 Degrees album “How Do You Like Your Love?” 28 Degrees Taurus is a band that has made beautiful songs that are completely unique and original. This album from beginning to end is something that goes outside the realms of the earth’s atmosphere. The music is cool and hip enough to be the soundtrack to a Quentin Taratino movie.

28 Weeks Later
What the hell! First we had 28 Days later now it's 28 weeks later. When I heard this film was in production I felt that the studio was making a huge mistake by milking the cow again. How can they take what changed the face of zombie horror, especially when I heard no one from 28 days later would have any part in the sequel. They took the a story idea and made it work. So now it is of course 28 weeks later, after the first film took place. Now the United States Army comes into the England area to help contain the virus that has infected the region. The twist, is people have actually built up an immunity to the deadly virus at the same time infected those that have not. There is a huge underline story in between the lines that is not hard to figure out. The down point in the story is the way the film ends leaving an open ending to build another story line with ease. It's a good horror movie to put on and enjoy the story line or gore.
